
Bengaluru, June 2023 – R.S. Dharmendhar, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of the Karnataka chapter of the Association of Hospitality Professionals (Welfare) India (AHPWI), was honored with the prestigious award for Best General Manager (GM) Karnataka Hotels. The accolade was presented in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the hospitality industry. The award ceremony took place during the World of Hospitality Mega Event organized by AHPWI at Tripura Vasani, Palace Grounds, Bengaluru from June 13th to 15th, 2023.
Under the dynamic leadership of Honorable Pradeep Kumar Chandel, renowned hospitality leader and Founder Chairman of AHPWI, the association played a pivotal role in organizing this grand event, which witnessed the participation of approximately 15,000 hospitality leaders from across India.
A highlight of the event was a panel discussion led by Mr. Mohan Kumar, featuring industry experts who deliberated on how the G20 can contribute to the growth and development of tourism in India. With its diverse heritage, rich culture, and vast geographical variations, India possesses tremendous potential for the tourism and hospitality sectors, offering opportunities for economic growth and employment generation. The discussion emphasized the importance of upskilling the workforce to provide world-class, hygienic, and comfortable accommodations to visitors, as well as the need for economical and clean lodging options for business travelers. Additionally, the panel emphasized the significance of strengthening regional and religious tourism circuits.
AHPWI’s commitment to the development of the hospitality community extends beyond this mega event. Through their initiative, “Hospitality Ki Pathshala,” they aim to educate and provide skills-based programs to 50,000 underprivileged students in the hospitality industry across India, aligning with the Skill India Campaign.
The association, representing over 5.5 crore managers and workers employed in the hospitality and tourism sectors, contributes more than 10 percent to the country’s GDP. The World of Hospitality Expo held in Bengaluru brought together leaders from various regions of India, presenting an ideal platform for networking, sharing insights, and exploring opportunities for growth and collaboration.
Mr. R.S. Dharmendhar, an accomplished and result-driven management and marketing professional, has played a pivotal role in the success of the Karnataka chapter of AHPWI. With a Master’s in Business Administration and extensive experience in general management, marketing, and operations, Mr. Dharmendhar has demonstrated his ability to drive revenue growth, cost savings, and organizational productivity. His leadership was instrumental in the successful operation of 14 outlets during the pandemic, contributing to the resounding success of the Karnataka Chapter.
During the event, the delegation, led by Founder Chairman and National President Sh. Pradeep Kumar Chandel had the opportunity to meet Deputy Chief Minister Sh. D.K. Shivkumar. The association was invited to share insights and participate in deliberations on the new Tourism Policy for Coastal Karnataka. The meeting witnessed the presence of esteemed individuals such as Mr. Shankar Bharadwaj, Mr. Manoj Chavan, Mr. Anupam Vohra, Mr. Kamal Aditya, and Mr. Jaideep Majumdar. Special thanks were extended to Mr. Girish Aaradhya and Mr. R.S. Dharmendhar for their significant contributions to the grand success of the Karnataka Chapter.
